Politeia Thematic Session: Education and Policy Making in the Western Balkans

Regional Youth Dialogue for Europe – RYDE

The Politeia Thematic Session on Education and Policy Making in the Western Balkans was organised by the Network of Progressive Initiatives from Sarajevo (NPI) from 21 to 23 January 2025 in Sarajevo.

The aim of the session was to provide participants with the knowledge on educational policies, public policy documents structure, policy-making processes, and their impact on youth in the region. The session gathered 12 young participants, including 3 CSOs representatives, 5 youth activists, 3 decision makers, and 1 youth political party members. A total of 2 of them where from Albania, 3 from BiH, 2 from Serbia, 2 from North Macedonia, 1 from Kosovo and 2 from Montenegro. There were 5 men and 7 women.

The program included interactive sessions, expert-led discussions, and practical workshops aimed at enhancing participants’ understanding of policy development and equipping them with the skills to draft policy briefs on key educational challenges. A mentoring program was integrated into the session to provide structured guidance in the development of policy briefs focused on educational challenges in the region. Hata Kujraković served as the mentor, leading participants through the policy development process by providing insights into policy brief structuring and formulation.

The event was held within the framework of the project “Regional Youth Dialogue for Europe (RYDE),” funded by the European Union.

The Regional Youth Dialogue for Europe Project is implementing by the Center for Democracy Foundation (CDF), Belgrade (as project coordinator) and partner organizations: Academy of European Integration and Negotiations from Tirana (AIEN); Kosovo Stability Initiative from Pristina (IKS); Association Network of Progressive Initiatives from Sarajevo (NPI); NGO Info Center from Skopje (NGO IC); Regional Academy for Democratic Development from Novi Sad (ADD); Youth Act Center from Tirana (YA). The project is funded by the European Union.
