Regional Youth Dialogue for Europe – RYDE
The Kosovar Stability Initiative (IKS) from Pristina organized a public debate on “The Impact of Migration on Regional Youth: Workforce in Transition” on 15 January 2025 at Europe House in Pristina.
The aim of the event was to foster dialogue on youth migration, economic opportunities, and public policy challenges. The debate brought together 26 participants from various categories, including representatives of civil society organizations and youth organizations, public institutions, the youth council, youth activists, political parties, and the media.
The event was moderated by Mrs. Shpresa Demhasaj, who facilitated the discussion and engaged participants in critical conversations about the causes and consequences of migration among young people in the WB, particularly in Kosovo. The panel featured Mrs. Brikena Hoxha, Jeton Qengaj, Director of Avoko NGO, and Mrs. Renisa Selenica, a youth migrant worker in Kosovo. Their combined expertise provided an advocacy perspective, policy insights, and lived experiences related to youth migration and employment opportunities in the region.
In addition to the panelists, key speakers included Marigona Nikçi from the Ministry of Health in Kosovo, Brikena Berisha and Arrnise Xharra from IKS, who elaborated on the socioeconomic drivers of migration and the institutional response to these challenges. The event’s discussions helped identify policy gaps, address misconceptions, and provide actionable recommendations for enhancing youth employment opportunities in Kosovo and other WB countries.
The interactive nature of the debate fostered open dialogue, allowing young people to directly engage with decision-makers, while also learning from professionals and activists about potential solutions and opportunities available to them.
The debate was held within the framework of the project Regional Youth Dialogue for Europe (RYDE), funded by the European Union.
