“Young People and Employment Opportunities – From Local Needs to Public Policies”
During July 2026, the Center for Democracy Foundation organised a two-day youth training programme in Niš and online entitled “Young People and Employment Opportunities – From Local Needs to Public Policies”, as part of the Your City – Your Voice project.
The training brought together young people from Niš and the surrounding area who are interested in actively contributing to the improvement of policies and measures affecting youth employment and their professional development.
Throughout the interactive training, participants had the opportunity to explore how public policies influence employment opportunities for young people and how they can actively contribute to improving them. Through collaborative work, they exchanged experiences, identified the key challenges young people face when entering the labour market – from the lack of work experience and practical skills, through the mismatch between education and labour market needs, to limited awareness of available support programmes – and discussed possible ways to address these challenges through dialogue with decision-makers.
Using the Youth Policy Lab methodology, participants developed their first proposals for improving local measures and initiatives aimed at creating better employment opportunities for young people, while strengthening their skills in argumentation, teamwork and public advocacy.
The outcomes of the training will serve as the foundation for the next phase of the project, during which young people, with the support of the Center for Democracy Foundation and local partners, will further develop their proposals and prepare recommendations to be presented to representatives of local institutions and other relevant stakeholders through the project’s advocacy activities.
