Role and Potentials of Civil Society Organizations in the Sphere of Labor
Does civil society have any connections and implications on labor rights? There are opinions and theories suggesting that economic sector and the field of labor do not belong to civil society, whilst there are beliefs that this sector is a part of civil society. The same question appears when unions are in question: do they belong to the sphere of civil sector or not?
Freedom of associating is one of basic human rights and it is the essence of civil society. All citizens have the right to unite and organize in different forms of organizations. One of the most significant symbols of civil society is the pluralism of interests of its citizens that appear in social life and on market as individuals who have different interests, motives and needs. In attempt to satisfy and accomplish their interests, citizens assemble, organize and act through various types of organizations, institutions and establishments. In that manner, they create a network of social bonds, which again build social pluralism and civil society…
