In January 2014, the Centre for Democracy Foundation launched the project "Citizens for Inspections Reform – Towards an Efficient Inspections System in Serbia"

The opening of accession negotiations with the EU entails the reform of the state administration system as one of its key priorities. Inspections authorities are of special importance in the context of the public administration reform, having in mind that the implementation of a number of regulations lies in their hands. We want this project to secure a more active involvement of the public and civil society organisations in the public sector reform, and accordingly, the reform of the inspections system in Serbia.

Activities we are about to implement this year include a number of training sessions for CSO representatives from across Serbia with the aim of fostering their competence and empowering their advocacy skills and capacities for monitoring the process of inspections reform, research on citizens' opinions/experiences regarding inspections reform, and raising public awareness and participation in the campaign through innovative communication skills. Our objective is to draw the attention of the public to the necessity of an inspections system reform.

We are trying to create the ever-so-needed synergy for this important issue, having in mind that it equally concerns the people, independent institutions, Government, Parliament and the business sector.

The project is implemented in partnership with the Foundation for New Communications "Dokukino",

and supported by the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia within the "Support to Civil Society" project which is financed by the EU.
