“Politeia – Knowledge Hub for Active Youth”

The Center for Democracy Foundation invites you to apply for participation in the POLITEIA School for Youth Participation, which will take place from February 6-8, 2025, in Subotica (Serbia).

The POLITEIA School is one of the most renowned brands of the Center for Democracy and is recognized as one of the leading informal education programs for youth, with over 1,800 participants to date. The first POLITEIA School for Civil Society was held in 1997 in Subotica. Since then, more than 2,000 students from Serbia and the Western Balkans have participated in the POLITEIA School.

Topics for discussion:

  • Youth and Politics: From apathy to activism and participation in decision-making processes;
  • Youth and Institutions: What do we expect from our representatives in parliaments? How can we make our institutions more open to young people? How to engage with decision-makers on reforms, the needs, and the position of youth?
  • Public Policies: What are they, how are they created, and why is it important for young people to participate in their design, discussion, and monitoring?
  • Media Literacy as a Key Skill for Democratic Participation: How to distinguish between news and fake news?
  • Youth Activism: From local actions to global influence;
  • Why are Euro-Atlantic integrations important for youth?

Participation in the POLITEIA School for Youth Participation is open to all high school graduates, students, activists, and young professionals aged 18–25 from Subotica and surrounding areas.

Participants will be selected based on their academic, activist, and other achievements, as well as their demonstrated motivation to become part of the POLITEIA alumni network. Successful candidates will be those who show a strong interest in gaining new knowledge about the social, economic, and political benefits of the European integration of the Western Balkans, youth policies, youth networking at the regional and European levels, and mechanisms for participating in the creation and implementation of public policies.

At the conclusion of the program, participants will receive a diploma during the final event, which will be held in Belgrade.

The deadline for applications is January 20, 2025.
