Annual Report on Labour Rights in the Republic of Serbia Presented

Contribution to the Promotion and Advancement of Labour Rights

The Center for Democracy Foundation, with the support of the Olof Palme International Center, organised the presentation of the Annual Report on Labour Rights in the Republic of Serbia for 2023 on 26 June 2024.

For the sixth consecutive year, the Center for Democracy has prepared an annual report on the state of labour rights. The aim of this report is to contribute to the improvement of labour rights in the Republic of Serbia, in accordance with international standards.

The report’s authors, Prof. Bojan Urdarević, PhD, and Jovana Misailović, presented the key findings of their analyses, with a particular focus on labour market data, laws and public policy documents, and social dialogue in Serbia.

Participants in the discussion included Nataša Vučković from the Center for Democracy Foundation (CDF); Aleksandar Milošević from Nova Ekonomija; Slađana Kiković from United Branch Trade Unions "Independence"; Sarita Bradaš from the CDF; as well as representatives of independent institutions, trade unions, civil society, and the media.

The discussion highlighted that the fragmentation of labour legislation in Serbia must be halted, and a comprehensive Employment Act must be adopted. The CDF will advocate for openness and transparency in the process of drafting this law and for the participation of all social partners in its preparation.
