Session Held of Working Group 17 for the National Convention on the European Union

A session of Working Group 17 for the National Convention on the European Union (NCEU) for Chapters 2 (Freedom of Movement for Workers) and 19 (Social Policy and Employment) was held 13 December 2021 on an online format.

Discussions were held concerning the work of the Government in the areas of social policy and employment, adopted public policy documents and laws, the implementation of the Action Plan for Chapter 19, and public policy laws and documents which are under development.

During the discussion, among others, the necessity to render the Social Protection Strategy as the key public policy document in this area was emphasised. Furthermore, it was highlighted that the proposed Draft Law on Seasonal Work will only cause more issues to surface as it contributes to the further fragmentation of labour legislation and precarisation of labour.

During the session, held at the proposal of the Working Group Coordinator, Nataša Vučković (CDF), the following WG members participated: Žarko Šunderić (Centre for Social Policy), Jovan Protić (International Labour Organization), Tanja Jakobi (Public Policy Research Centre), Milja Dimitrijević (Serbian Trade Union of Doctors and Pharmacists), Zora Veselinović (Autonomous Trade Unions of Novi Sad and Municipalities), Marina Kostić (Caritas Serbia), Mirjana Pantelić (UIPS), Osman Balić (Liga Roma), Marija Martinić (United Branch Trade Union Independence), Bojana Bijelović Bosanac (Association of Independent Trade Unions Serbia), Sanja Paunović (Association of Independent Trade Unions Serbia), Ljiljana Pavlović (Serbian Association of Employers), Miljana Stojšić Stojanovska (Association of Employers of Vojvodina), Sarita Bradaš (CDF), as well as, at the invitation of the coordinator, the representative of the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy Ivana Banković, and Aleksandra Lakić (Zajedničko Association).
