Analysing the Effects of Public Policies on Society Guide

The Center for Democracy Foundation is pleased to present the Effects of Public Policies on Society Guide which we have prepared with the support of the Open Society Foundation Serbia through the Policies Beneficial to All project: Measuring the Impact of Policy Proposals on the Public through Empowerment and Inclusion of Citizens.

The purpose of the Guide is to enable those of you who deal with public policies in a professional or activist capacity, to acquire basic knowledge on the analysis of the effects of public policies on society, through practical application guidelines, among other things Analysing the Effect of Public Policy on Society - An Overview of International and Domestic Methodologies With a Critical Review, prepared as part of the mentioned project.

You can also use the Guide independent of the mentioned publication, but we recommend that you use it as additional literature.

The knowledge you will master with the help of the Guide includes:

Basic knowledge of the analysis of the effects of public policies on society;
Why it is important to analyse the characteristics and limitations of the entities performing the analysis;
What factors should be taken into account when choosing a public policy to use as the subject of analysis;
At what stage of the public policy cycle and how should the analysis be performed;
How to identify which stakeholders are included in the analysis process and which factors to consider in this regard;
How to access the various data sources necessary to perform the analysis;
How to interpret the numerical and descriptive data obtained during the analysis;
How to form arguments based on the collected data;
How to formulate solutions proposing changes to public policies;
How to ensure that the solutions proposed are accepted;
