Slovak – Serbian EU Enlargement Fund (2009-2010)
Partnership with European CSOs Because of its awareness of how important partnerships with European organisations are which facilitate the transfer of knowledge and good practice, in 2009 the Center began cooperation with the Pontis Foundation from Slovakia on a project aimed at providing support to young professionals from Serbia in exploring Slovakia’s experience in the EU integration process. Women, employment vs poverty (2008-2009)
With the support of the UNDP office in Serbia, the Foundation implemented this project from 2008 to 2009 with the goal of increasing the capacity for employing women within the local communities. The focus of the activies surrounding this project was on strengthening collaboration between key players in planning, policy-making and implementation of the programme to improve womens’ competitiveness in the labour market. In cooperation with local civil society oranisations, cooperation was established with representatives of the business sector. Activies surrounding this project were implemented in Niš, Pirot, Kraljevo, Velika Plana and Para?in.
Easier and faster way to employment (2008)
On 18th November, 2008, the Centre for Democracy and VIP Moblie presented certificates to the participants of the “Easier and faster way to employment” training programme. This marked the completion of a special three week long programme, which aim was to give its participants new knowledge of the services sector. Through a partnership with VIP Mobile, the Foundation showed its willingness to be an effective partner with the business sector on joint projects.
Belgrade in 1968: 40 years later (2008)
On 4th of June 2008, the Center for Democracy Foundation and the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence organised a conference entitled “Belgrade in 1968: 40 years later” which was held at the Rector’s Office of the University of Belgrade. Diplomacy and Parliament (2008)
In December 2008, we organized a three-day seminar for MPs, which was dedicated to parliamentary diplomatic practices. The seminar was attended by MPs who deal with foreign policy issues, either as members of the Foreign Affairs Committee, the European Integration Committee or as members of the permanent delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the parliamentary assemblies of international organisations.
Holcim and CDF (2007-2008)
In 2007, Holcim (Serbia) Ltd, a leading cement producer basedin Popovac, commissioned the Center for Democracy Foundation to organise a two-day seminar for the representatives of local civil society organisations, municipalities and the business sector. The topics raises at the seminar included strategic planning and project cycle management. The return of women to the labour market (2006-2007)
The project was intended for unemployed women between the ages of 35 to 55 years of age from Belgrade who wanted to return to the labour market, improve their work quality and their professions. They attended a general business course in the form of a 5-week training programme, after which they were given the option of choosing a 3-week specialised course – Social services training or Tourism agent and broker training. Democratic parties and European social democracy (2006)
In collaboration with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, the Foundation organised a unique seminar for officials of the democratic parties – federal and republic MPs, majors, municipality representatives and officials, and for city council members and active party members. The goal of the seminar was to familiarise the participants to the starting points of the basic programmes and values of the largest political parties operating in Europe, as well as with the achievements of modern European social democracy.
