Prof. Dr. Sreten Vujović

Founder of the Center for Democracy Foundation.

Sreten Vujović was born in 1946 in Cetinje. He graduated, received his master’s and doctoral degrees at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, where he worked as a professor until his retirement. From 1969 to 1971 he worked at the Yugoslav Institute for Urban Planning and Housing in Belgrade, and then transferred to the Faculty of Philosophy. He deals with the history of sociological theories, urban sociology, sociology of rural development, sociology of housing, sociology of architecture and urbanism, urban renewal, social deviations and the quality of everyday life. He taught at numerous faculties in Yugoslavia and abroad. He was a mentor in the preparation of many doctorates and master’s degrees. He participated in many scientific and professional conferences in the country and abroad, edited journals and collections of articles, and received many awards for his scholarly work. He is a member of the Serbian Sociological Society, the Association of Sociologists of Serbia and Montenegro and the Union of Urbanists of Serbia. He is one of the leading Yugoslav sociologists.
